Well for those who may not be aware, digg has been under the gun today with a flurry of activity all hinging around a cease-and-desist order they received from the MPAA. A story had been posted leaking the code to crack HD-DVD’s, digg pulled it down along with several others and within hours a backlash ensued resulting in a barage of posts leaking this code. Finally digg gave in to the users demands and has decided to stop taking down posts with this code and take on the MPAA and whatever fight they may bring.
But now, after seeing hundreds of stories and reading thousands of comments, you’ve made it clear. You’d rather see Digg go down fighting than bow down to a bigger company. We hear you, and effective immediately we won’t delete stories or comments containing the code and will deal with whatever the consequences might be.
If we lose, then what the hell, at least we died trying.

Needless to say I think the digg landscape will change considerably after the furor has died down. I think digg under-estimated their users and their willingness to fight back. All in all though the whole thing seems quite pathetic and childish. Shout loud and long enough until you get your way. Speaks volumes to the digg demographic.
